Original radiators were made from cast iron because aluminium and stainless steel were expensive back then. Cast-iron radiators can be floor mounted or wall mounted. They can also be painted over to improve their looks and let them blend with the area in which they are installed. Radiators work on the principle of heat transfer between 2 objects with different temperatures. These operate on the first law of thermodynamics which state that energy (“thermal” or heat energy) is constant and conserved within a closed system. So make sure your heating system does not have leaks that allow heat to dissipate unnecessarily. New radiators use electricity rather than steam to heat up.
